Sarah Bloch
“Our team visit to Clitterhouse Farm was informative and memorable. We really appreciated that Paulette took the time to speak to us prior to the visit to understand what our goals and interests were as a team. This enabled her to develop a bespoke visit that was tailored to our organisation.
Paulette shared the journey of Clitterhouse Farm with us, which sparked interesting conversations that have influenced our practice going forward, particularly with regard to transparency and sharing business challenges more openly. The visit also encouraged us to think about how we can better utilise our Community Organisers. Since then, our Community Organisers have taken an increasing role in our organisation and their grassroots research informs our decision making within our business with increasing influence.
It was fantastic to have the opportunity to hear Paulette’s wealth of knowledge, and her relaxed yet informative approach made it a fun day out of the office. The lunch that we had was enough in itself to keep coming back to the farm!”
Kishma Smithurst (She / Her) - Volunteering Manager, Wellcome Trust
“Clitterhouse farm is a great space in the middle of the community. It felt like a really impactful project with locals stopping in throughout the day to say hello and ask about what we were doing. Paulette is clearly very passionate about the project and has great ambitions for the future of the site.
This was also the most looked after and appreciated I have felt on any corporate volunteer day. I would highly recommend to other groups wanting to spend a day working outside and I will be looking to take other groups in the future.”
Cat Holland - Social Value Manager, London Construction and Canada Water
“We enjoyed a busy day of volunteering at Clitterhouse Farm, completing a range of tasks including weeding, pruning, composting, painting and watering. It was great to hear more about the hard work that the volunteers do to look after the garden and the plans they have to grow more food to serve in the café.
Talking of food, the delicious homemade lunch was a highlight of the day, providing welcome sustenance and an opportunity to chat as a team. All in all, a great day out of the office for everyone and I’m sure we’ll be back!”
Dr Mariana Marchesi and Dr Marga Munar Bauzá - Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University
“Our visit to Clitterhouse Farm in November 2023 with our Cardiff University Year 3 architecture students, as part of the design Unit Treherbert high-ER Street, was a transformative experience. The visit and the knowledge you shared have significantly influenced the students’ thinking, questioning, and design.
Your remarkable work, characterised by exploration, inclusivity, and togetherness, is a beacon of hope for a better future where care is paramount. We are deeply grateful for your work and the invaluable opportunity to learn from you. We hope to see more of your work in the future.”
Year 3, Students of Architecture - Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University
“We would just love to say thank you for taking the time to talk to us and for showing us around the Yard. Everyone on site was friendly and willing to share all their knowledge about the different aspects of the gardens and café.
It was also really nice to hear all about the need for your yard and how much of a difference it can make to the community and local small businesses. You have created a really caring and sustainable place, which we hope will continue to grow. Once again thank you so much”
